Isildur (3209 II A ? - 2 III A)   Up

Isildur was Elendil's older son. When Numeron was destroyed, Isildur escaped with brother Anarion and father. In the Middle-earth they founded two kingdoms: Gondor, where Isildur ruled with his brother and Arnor, which belonged to his father. He was also the master of Minas Ithil, later known as Minas Morgul after the Ringwraiths had taken over it. In 3441 II A he fought with his father during the War of the Last Alliance against Sauron. While fighting him near the Barad-dur Tower, Isildur cut off Dark Lord's finger with the One Ring with Elendil's sword Narsil and took the jewel as his own heir. After this battle, Isildur ruled Gondor for two years and planted the White Tree in Minas Anor (later named Minas Tirith). On the way to Arnor, where he was about to become a king, his people were suddenly attacked by the orcs on the Gladden Fields. Isildur tried to escape from the fight by putting the Ring on, but while crossing the river Anduine, the jewel slipped off from his hand and the orcs killed now visible Isildur. Due to that event the Ring was also called the Isildur's Bane.
